Ukraine Train Ticket Sales Disrupted by Cyberattack

Ukrzaliznytsia Experiences Significant Cyberattack
Ukrzaliznytsia, the national railway company of Ukraine, announced on Monday that it had been the target of a substantial cyberattack.
The attack has impacted the availability of online ticket purchasing, encompassing both the website and the mobile application.
Operational Status and Passenger Impact
Despite the cyber incident, train services are continuing to run as scheduled. This information was conveyed through an official statement released on the company’s Telegram channel.
Reporting from Kyiv’s central station, journalist Daryna Antoniuk of The Record observed an atypical level of congestion. Long queues formed as passengers sought to purchase tickets for both domestic and international travel.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s Response and Mitigation
According to a translated statement from Ukrzaliznytsia, the attack did not succeed in disrupting core railway operations.
The company affirmed that train schedules remain stable, with services operating punctually and essential traffic management processes functioning through backup systems.
Guidance for Passengers
As a contingency measure, Ukrzaliznytsia advised passengers who are unable to secure tickets online or through ticket offices to proceed directly to the train.
This approach ensures continued travel for those facing difficulties with the compromised ticketing systems.
