ClubLink: Enhanced Social Sharing for Clubhouse Events

While Clubhouse now provides a method for sharing upcoming events and hangouts on social media platforms, the generated link often lacks visual appeal. A new tool, ClubLink, addresses this issue by offering improved promotional capabilities.

Customized Social Media Previews

ClubLink enables hosts to create more engaging social media previews for their events. These previews can include a featured photo, the room’s name, attendee information, the scheduled date and time (displayed in the host’s time zone), and even profile icons of the hosts.

The Team Behind ClubLink

The tool was developed by Jens Polomski, an online marketer, and Peter Thaleikis, a coder and digital marketer, both based in Germany.

The Inspiration for ClubLink

Polomski conceived the idea last month after observing Clubhouse links shared on Twitter. He felt the default link previews were visually unappealing and lacked essential details.

“I observed that many users, particularly on Twitter, were sharing Clubhouse events using the platform’s built-in sharing feature,” he explained. “However, the preview image was not optimized and didn’t convey sufficient information.”

A Simple and Efficient Process

Polomski then enlisted Thaleikis’s assistance to build a superior solution. The resulting ClubLink tool is straightforward to use. Users simply paste their Clubhouse event link into the ClubLink website, and a customized link is automatically generated.

This process mirrors the functionality of URL shortening services like tinyurl.com.

Unlike simple URL shorteners, ClubLink performs additional functions. It accesses the Clubhouse link and captures a screenshot to enhance the preview image. However, Polomski clarifies that the tool does not scrape data directly from Clubhouse.

The tool also renames the image file to include the host’s name, potentially improving discoverability and future search engine optimization (SEO).

SEO Considerations

The creators, leveraging their digital marketing expertise, intentionally incorporated SEO best practices into the ClubLink URLs.

“We prioritized ensuring the technical SEO aspects of the links were optimized, something Clubhouse currently doesn’t address,” Polomski stated. He cautioned, however, that it’s premature to assess the impact of these efforts, as the first ClubLink URLs were recently launched and only a limited number have been indexed by Google.

Easy Sharing Options

After generating a link on the ClubLink website, users are presented with options to immediately share it on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Promoting Clubhouse Rooms

Effectively publicizing rooms in advance is crucial for building a following on the audio-based social network, and ClubLink is poised to become a valuable asset for hosts.

Here’s an example of a ClubLink in action:

Sharing Live Rooms

Sharing links during live rooms is also beneficial, particularly when discovering valuable discussions. Clubhouse’s recent update allows users to click the “+” sign within a room to obtain a shareable link. Currently, these “room” links are not compatible with ClubLink, but the development team is actively exploring a solution.

A Growing Ecosystem of Clubhouse Tools

ClubLink is one of several emerging tools designed to enhance the Clubhouse experience for power users.

Similar Services and Tools

  • Clubhype offers comparable functionality to ClubLink, and both are gaining traction on Product Hunt.
  • Clubhouse Bio Creator (clubhousebio.xyz) assists users in crafting compelling profile bios for desktop, which can then be copied to their mobile devices.
  • Tools like Clubhouse Glow, Clubhouse Avatar Maker, and Thriveepic’s Canva template help users create standout profile pictures.
  • Comet Events and Host Notes provide comprehensive suites of tools for Clubhouse moderators and community management.
