Clicks Expands Physical Keyboard Cases to Android Devices
Clicks is now extending the availability of its BlackBerry-style physical keyboard cases to the Android platform. The company announced on Tuesday the release of three new products specifically designed for Android users.
These new offerings include Clicks keyboards compatible with the Google Pixel, Motorola Razr+, and Samsung Galaxy series of smartphones.
Pre-order Details and Pricing
Pre-orders for the cases are commencing today. Initially, the Android versions will be priced lower than their iPhone equivalents.
The cases for the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro are currently available for pre-order at $99. This price will increase to $139 after March 21.
Users of the Razr+ and Samsung Galaxy S25 can also secure a case for $99, with a $49 down payment option available. Similar to the Pixel models, the price will rise to $139 following March 21.
A Nostalgic Return
The Clicks case initially gained recognition for its retro aesthetic, evoking memories of the classic BlackBerry devices and their tactile keyboards.
Following its 2024 debut, Clicks successfully sold over 100,000 iPhone cases across more than 100 countries.
Challenges and Adaptation
Adapting to the Clicks case on modern smartphones can present a learning curve. Contemporary smartphone designs differ significantly from the shorter, wider form factor of older BlackBerry phones.
The combined weight of the case and phone can sometimes create a sense of instability during typing, potentially causing a wobble in the hands.
Clicks acknowledges this potential difficulty and provides instructional documentation to assist users in achieving a comfortable and effective typing experience.
Key Features of the Android Keyboards
The Android keyboards, mirroring the iPhone versions, incorporate several key features.
- Metal dome switches provide tactile feedback.
- Backlit keys enhance visibility.
- Support for keyboard shortcuts streamlines workflows.
- A microfibre interior protects the device.
- USB-C charging is included, with wireless charging compatibility for Pixel devices.
A companion app is also available for customizing and saving user preferences.
Availability and Color Options
Pixel Clicks cases are offered in Surge (a vibrant yellow) and Onyx (black). Shipping is scheduled for late April.
Razr+ cases will be available in Electric (bright blue) and Onyx, with shipments beginning in late May.
Galaxy S25 cases come in Pinot (red) and Onyx, and are expected to ship in June.
