Chipolo Competitor: Works with Apple Find My & Google Find My

Chipolo Launches Universal Tracker
On Monday, Chipolo, a company specializing in item-tracking devices, unveiled its newest generation of products. This latest iteration distinguishes itself by offering compatibility with both Apple and Google’s item-locating networks directly upon purchase.
Simplified Choice for Consumers
Chipolo anticipates that consolidating these functionalities into a single device will streamline the selection process for customers. The company further suggests this enhancement makes their products more suitable for gifting, as purchasers will no longer need to ascertain the recipient’s operating system preference – Android or iOS.
Competition in the Tracking Market
Chipolo is among a select group of companies – including Tile, Pebblebee, and Samsung – that manufacture alternatives to Apple’s AirTag.
Unlike Tile, which initially built its own finding network reliant on users with its mobile application, Chipolo has opted to integrate with the pre-existing networks provided by Apple and Google. (Despite Tile’s earlier market entry, competition from the AirTag ultimately led to its acquisition by Life360, a family locator service, in 2021 for $205 million.)
Growth and Sales Figures
To this point, Chipolo has distributed over 4.5 million devices. The company reports a 30% average year-over-year growth since the introduction of its initial “Find My” compatible products, the Chipolo ONE Spot and the Chipolo Card Spot, as communicated to TechCrunch via email.
Enhanced Features of the Chipolo POP
Beyond compatibility with both Apple and Google’s networks, the new Chipolo POP incorporates popular features from previous models. These include the ability to locate a misplaced phone by double-pressing the tracker, receiving alerts when the tracker is out of range, customizing the tracker’s ringtone, and utilizing it as a remote shutter for taking selfies.
The Bluetooth range has been increased to 300 feet (90 meters), and the battery life extends up to one year with a user-replaceable battery.
Availability and Pricing
The new devices are available in a range of colors – blue, black, green, red, white, and yellow – and are priced at $29 (£30/€35). They can be purchased through Chipolo’s official website and on Amazon.
