Cadillac Lyriq Price & Release Date | All-Electric SUV

Cadillac Lyriq: Pricing and Launch Details
The Cadillac Lyriq, a fully electric crossover and the premier model from GM’s luxury division, is slated to begin at just below $60,000 upon its arrival in the U.S. market in early 2022.
This price point excludes destination fees and represents one of the final pieces of information regarding the production version of the Lyriq. GM initially showcased a concept version of the Lyriq in August. The automaker subsequently revealed pricing and the definitive specifications of the production model on Wednesday.
A Key Component of GM’s EV Strategy
The Lyriq is a significant part of GM’s ambitious plan to introduce 30 different electric vehicles by the year 2025. It holds substantial importance for Cadillac, aiming to redefine the brand and revitalize sales figures. GM emphasizes the imminent arrival of this vehicle, inviting prospective buyers to reserve their orders starting in September 2021.
Originally scheduled for U.S. production in late 2022, the Lyriq’s timeline has been accelerated. This expedited development is attributed to the utilization of virtual development tools and the adaptable Ultium platform upon which the vehicle is built.
The Ultium Platform: A Foundation for the Future
The Ultium electric architecture and its associated batteries will underpin a wide array of vehicles across GM’s brands – Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC – as well as the Cruise Origin autonomous shuttle. This modular design allows for 19 distinct battery and drive unit configurations.
- It supports both 400-volt and 800-volt battery packs.
- Battery storage capacities will range from 50 kWh to 200 kWh.
- Configurations include front, rear, and all-wheel drive options.
Performance and Charging Capabilities
The rear-wheel drive Lyriq will feature a 100 kWh battery pack, projected to deliver over 300 miles of range based on Cadillac’s internal assessments. Official EPA estimates are pending release. The vehicle is capable of rapid charging at rates up to 190 kW, potentially adding approximately 76 miles of range in roughly 10 minutes.
For home charging, a 19.2 kW charging module is available, capable of adding up to 52 miles of range per hour of charging, according to the company.
Luxury Features and Design
The Lyriq is designed to embody luxury, incorporating elements such as a “black crystal” grille, a large 33-inch vertical LED touchscreen display, and a premium AKG sound system. Its design incorporates a sleek roofline and a broad stance, creating a contemporary and assertive aesthetic.
The “black crystal” grille features dynamic LED lighting that activates as the owner approaches the vehicle. This lighting theme extends to the rear, with a distinctive split taillamp design.
Customers can choose from two exterior color options – satin steel metallic and stellar black metallic – and two interior themes: sky cool gray and noir. Laser-etched wood and metal décor further enhance the interior ambiance.

The Lyriq will offer Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driver assistance technology. This system integrates lidar map data, high-precision GPS, cameras, and radar sensors, alongside a driver attention system to ensure the driver remains focused on the road.
Unlike Tesla’s Autopilot, Super Cruise does not require drivers to maintain contact with the steering wheel; however, drivers must keep their eyes directed forward.
One-Pedal Driving and Production Location
Similar to GM’s Chevrolet Bolt, the Lyriq will provide a one-pedal driving experience. Utilizing regenerative braking, drivers can control the vehicle’s deceleration and stopping power through a pressure-sensitive paddle on the steering wheel.
Production of the Lyriq will take place at GM’s assembly plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. GM is investing $2 billion in this facility to support electric vehicle manufacturing. Furthermore, a joint venture with LG Energy Solution will establish a $2.3 billion battery cell manufacturing plant adjacent to the Spring Hill assembly plant.
