Britive Raises $10M Series A for Multi-Cloud Permissions

Britive Secures $10 Million in Series A Funding
Britive, a startup focused on privileged access control across multiple cloud environments, has announced a $10 million Series A funding round. The investment was spearheaded by Crosslink Capital, with continued support from Upfront Ventures and One Way Ventures.
The company specializes in automating the process of granting permissions across various cloud providers and software applications. This applies to both human users and automated systems requesting access.
Automating Access Permissions
According to Britive co-founder and CEO Art Poghosyan, the increasing prevalence of automation necessitates robust permissioning practices. Often, it is not a person, but a machine, that requires access.
“Our solution provides an automated method for access management, transitioning from statically granted permissions – which accumulate over time – to a ‘just in time’ access model,” Poghosyan explained.
This means access is granted based on predefined policies, for the precise duration needed, regardless of whether the request originates from a human or an automated process.
Expanding Access Scenarios
Modern development workflows involve diverse access requirements, including API keys and sensitive credentials. Access isn’t limited to human actors.
Poghosyan noted that permissions are frequently needed by tools like Terraform scripts or GitHub for infrastructure provisioning and application deployment.
Growth and Diversity Initiatives
Currently employing 40 individuals, Britive anticipates doubling its workforce within the next year, fueled by the new capital infusion.
As a first-generation Armenian immigrant, Poghosyan emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusion in the company’s hiring practices.
“We are dedicated to offering equal opportunities to skilled individuals, irrespective of their background. I am proud that, even at our current size of 40 employees, over 50% of our team represents ethnic minority groups,” he stated.
Company Background and Funding
Founded in 2018 and launching its initial product in 2019, Britive is headquartered in Los Angeles.
The company previously raised a $5.4 million seed round in July 2022 (announced in September), bringing the total funding to approximately $15.4 million.
Britive’s focus remains on simplifying and securing access management in the increasingly complex multi-cloud landscape.
