Backed by a16z crypto, Incention is designed to offer IP holders a secure platform to protect their creations and foster engagement with their audiences. The company was established by Chase Rosenblatt (CEO) and Spencer Marell (COO), tech entrepreneurs who believe that conventional IP development is flawed and that emerging talent is often overlooked.

Goyer shared with TechCrunch, “I found the concept of utilizing the wider community and the tokenization of ideas particularly compelling.” He continued, “The beauty of these platforms lies in their ability to track the creation of any work – be it a drawing, a story, or a t-shirt – across all subsequent formats. This creates a digital watermark and ensures ongoing compensation for the creator.”

Collaborate on “Emergence”: A New Era of Fan Participation

Collaboration on Emergence, the inaugural IP to be featured on Incention’s platform, is now open to all. This invitation extends to writers seeking to craft their own narratives, artists envisioning characters or landscapes, and musicians desiring to contribute to the soundtrack.

Ideas submitted by the community that garner sufficient votes and receive approval will be integrated into the official storyline. Fans who contribute will be rewarded with ownership, granting them a share in the story’s ultimate success.

Details of the “Emergence” Universe

Goyer revealed details about Emergence, centering around a white hole, dubbed the “White Fountain,” which expels thousands of enigmatic relics throughout the galaxy, each possessing immense power. Like his previous endeavors, Goyer’s new universe is meticulously constructed with intricate details and distinctive characters, while still providing ample space for imaginative contributions.

To guide the creative process, Goyer and a team of accomplished writers have developed a “World Bible,” a comprehensive guide outlining the story’s themes, characters, and evolving plotlines. This document details the various types of relics – micro, macro, and mega – and introduces diverse lifeforms, including advanced humans known as “The Kind.”

Characters like Captain Skadi, who transformed her world into glass after touching a macro-relic as a child, have been fully developed. Darius, a galactic service worker who encounters “a lot of weird shit,” as Goyer describes, is another key figure.

Intentionally, much of the story remains open-ended. Goyer has deliberately left numerous questions unanswered regarding the universe, including the origins and nature of the relics.

AI Assistance for Collaborative Storytelling

Incention has also created an AI agent, “Atlas,” to assist collaborators in generating ideas and answering questions about the world or characters of Emergence, ensuring consistency. Atlas is also capable of producing videos and images.

Future Fan Involvement and Monetization

Looking ahead, Goyer indicated that fans will have the opportunity to vote on crucial story elements, such as character fates and the introduction of new characters. A leaderboard will track points, and users will be able to invite others to collaborate on the platform.
