AWS Launches Energy Competency Program - Targeting the Energy Industry

Amazon Launches AWS Energy Competency Program
Amazon has unveiled a new initiative designed to formally recognize AWS Partners specializing in solutions for the energy sector. This program, known as the AWS Energy Competency Program, will distinguish partners who have proven technical proficiency and a track record of success.
These partners are equipped to assist energy companies globally in constructing and deploying AWS-based solutions, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and facilitating the shift towards a more sustainable energy landscape.
Supporting the Energy Industry's Digital Transformation
Currently, numerous AWS Partners collaborate with energy companies, enabling them to harness the power of AWS technology. This includes managing operations across the entire energy value chain, from oil and gas exploration to renewable energy initiatives.
Amazon reports that industries within the energy sector are rapidly adopting technologies like cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML).
Identifying Specialized Expertise
The AWS Energy Competency Program aims to simplify the process of identifying AWS Partners with specific expertise in serving energy producers. This includes partners capable of developing portfolios encompassing both sustainable and renewable energy assets.
The program’s launch features 32 global partners who actively contributed to its development, offering specialized solutions across various industry verticals and workloads.
Rigorous Validation Process
Amazon emphasizes that achieving this designation is a significant accomplishment for AWS Partners. Partners must undergo a comprehensive technical validation process aligned with energy industry best practices.
Partner Success Stories
Slalom, for example, has assisted TC Energy, a North American energy company, in managing its extensive 44,000-kilometer network of natural gas pipelines. They developed a business intelligence application utilizing machine learning to optimize gas scheduling and throughput for TC Energy’s customers.
Unleash Live, an AI-powered video analytics provider, collaborated with Worley, an industrial engineering solutions provider operating diverse energy facilities like wind farms and solar parks. Worley is now utilizing Unleash Live’s technology, combined with drones and computer vision, to enhance its inspection processes.
Comprehensive Solution Areas
Other partners offer solutions spanning upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, as well as new energies, core business applications, health, safety, and environmental concerns, and data analytics.
AWS Partners interested in participating can access the Validation Checklists for both AWS Services Partners and AWS Software Partners to begin the application process.
