2022 Audi Q4 e-tron SUV: Launch & Details

Audi Expands EV Lineup with the Q4 e-tron
Audi has introduced the Q4 e-tron, marking the fifth addition to its expanding range of electric vehicles. This launch is a key component of the German manufacturer's strategy to offer over 30 electric and plug-in hybrid models by the year 2025.
Positioning and Pricing
The Q4 e-tron serves as Audi’s entry-level electric sport utility vehicle, and its pricing reflects this positioning. Initially showcased as a concept at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, the vehicle carries a starting price of $44,995, which includes a $1,095 destination charge. Notably, the Q4 e-tron is approximately $1,000 more affordable than the 2022 Q5 SUV powered by a gasoline engine.
Model Variations and Range
The Q4 e-tron is offered as a family of vehicles, comprising three distinct models. These include the Q4 50 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback 50 quattro, the latter featuring all-wheel drive and dual asynchronous motors. Both of these variants are estimated to achieve an EPA range of 241 miles.
Additionally, there is the Q4 40 e-tron, which utilizes rear-wheel drive and a single asynchronous electric motor. EPA range estimates for the Q4 40 e-tron are currently pending release.
Key Specifications
Here's a summary of some fundamental specifications:

Dimensions and Interior Space
The Q4 is classified as a larger compact SUV, boasting a wheelbase of 9.1 feet and short overhangs. This design contributes to a compact exterior appearance. However, the interior provides a generous 6 feet of length, comparable to the space found in a full-size SUV.
The Q4 40 e-tron and Q4 50 e-tron models are equipped with standard 19-inch wheels and all-season tires. The Sportback version of the Q4 50 e-tron quattro features larger, standard 20-inch wheels also fitted with all-season tires, as per Audi’s specifications.
Underlying Technology
The Q4 shares its foundational architecture with Volkswagen’s modular electric drive toolkit (MEB) platform. This versatile modular system, initially introduced by VW in 2016, was engineered to streamline and reduce the costs associated with producing a diverse range of electric vehicles.
