Apple Delays Vision Pro, Shifts Focus to AI Glasses

Apple Shifts Focus from Vision Pro to AI Smart Glasses
Recent reporting by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg indicates that Apple is adjusting its strategy regarding wearable technology.
Plans for a revised version of the Vision Pro VR glasses are being scaled back as the company prioritizes the development of AI smart glasses.
Reallocation of Resources
Personnel previously assigned to the project focused on a more affordable and lightweight Vision Pro iteration are now being redirected.
These resources will contribute to the creation of next-generation smart glasses designed to rival offerings from companies like Meta.
Two Smart Glass Models in Development
Apple is reportedly pursuing the development of at least two distinct types of smart glasses.
- The first model, internally referred to as N50, is designed to function in conjunction with an iPhone.
- Notably, the N50 will not incorporate its own integrated display.
Current projections suggest a potential unveiling of the N50 as early as next year, with a market release anticipated in 2027.
The second smart glass variant under development will feature an integrated display.
This version is intended to directly compete with products such as the Meta Ray-Ban Display, which was recently introduced.
Originally slated for release in 2028, Apple is now accelerating the development timeline for this display-equipped model.
Competitive Landscape
Despite this strategic shift, Apple currently trails Meta in the smart glasses market.
Meta initiated its entry into this space with the launch of its first smart glasses in 2021.
The company is actively working to close this gap and establish a strong presence in the evolving landscape of wearable AI technology.
