iOS 18 Adoption: 82% of iPhones Now Running Latest OS

iOS 18 Adoption Surpasses 82%

Apple announced on Thursday that over 82% of iPhones capable of running the latest version of its mobile operating system, iOS 18, currently have it installed. This represents a significant increase from the 68% reported in January.

The unveiling of iOS 18 took place last June during the WWDC event, with the initial rollout to users beginning in September 2024.

Compatibility Details

Devices compatible with iOS 18 include the iPhone XR/XS models and all subsequent releases.

It is important to understand that Apple aggregates all variations of iOS 18 into a single metric for these statistics. Therefore, the precise number of iPhones operating on the very latest iteration of iOS 18 remains unspecified.

iPadOS 18 Usage

Alongside iOS 18, Apple also reported that 71% of eligible iPads are now running iPadOS 18.

Recent Device Adoption

A substantial 88% of iPhones released within the past four years are utilizing iOS 18, a rise from 76% in January. Similarly, approximately 81% of iPads released during the same period are operating on iPadOS 18.

Apple Intelligence and Future Updates

The company has not yet disclosed any specific data regarding the usage of Apple Intelligence.

The next iteration of iOS, widely speculated to be named “iOS 26,” is scheduled to be presented next Monday at WWDC 2025. The keynote presentation will be available for viewing online.
