Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID Now Available Separately

Apple's Magic Keyboard with Touch ID Now Available Separately
Following a launch alongside iMacs three and a half months ago, Apple is now offering the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID as a standalone purchase.
Customers can acquire the accessory directly from Apple Stores and the official company website.
Available Models and Pricing
Two distinct versions are available: a standard configuration and an extended model featuring a numeric keypad. This mirrors the existing options within Apple’s Magic Keyboard lineup.
The standard version is priced at $149, while the model with the numeric keypad costs $179.
A more affordable option, priced at $99, is also offered. This version retains the updated, rounded, and compact design but omits the Touch ID functionality, substituting it with a key for system lock.
Key Features Across Models
All keyboard variations include dedicated keys for accessing Spotlight, Dictation, Do Not Disturb, and Emoji.
Some users may choose to disable the Emoji key to prevent unintended activations.
Touch ID Compatibility
It’s important to note that Touch ID functionality is exclusively compatible with Macs equipped with the M1 chip. This limits its usability for a significant portion of currently available Mac computers.
For compatible systems, Touch ID enables secure logins and facilitates authorized purchases.
This limitation stems from the Touch ID feature’s reliance on the Secure Enclave, a component integrated into Apple’s newer chips.
Connectivity and Accessories
The Magic Keyboard is supplied with a woven USB-C to Lightning cable. However, it also supports wireless connectivity via Bluetooth.
Alongside the keyboard, Apple has also released updated versions of the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad, priced at $79 and $129 respectively.
