Apple Event November 10: What to Expect

Apple has recently distributed invitations for its final major event of 2020. Scheduled for 10 a.m. PST on November 10, the “One More Thing” presentation is widely expected to concentrate on the much-anticipated introduction of Apple silicon Macs. Consistent with current trends, this significant event will be exclusively online – mirroring the format of most large-scale technology presentations in the current climate.
The shift to virtual events, prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, has enabled companies to segment these key announcements more effectively than in previous years. Presenting to reporters and industry experts via a livestream represents a considerably simpler undertaking. Apple has capitalized on this opportunity, hosting three events in close succession. The first highlighted the latest Apple Watch and iPad models, the second showcased new iPhones, and now it appears highly probable that the company will focus on the Mac.
The presentation will likely include the official release date for macOS Big Sur, alongside the debut of Macs powered by the company’s prioritized ARM-based processors. During WWDC in late June, Apple unusually announced the technology’s impending arrival well in advance of its actual launch, aiming to encourage developer adoption before the product became available to consumers. Up to this point, however, the technology has been restricted to development environments.
“The Mac has consistently embraced substantial changes to maintain its position at the leading edge of personal computing. Today, we are announcing our transition to Apple silicon, marking a momentous occasion for the Mac,” stated Tim Cook during the initial announcement. “With its robust capabilities and exceptional performance, Apple silicon will enhance the Mac’s strength and versatility.” We are expected to learn the full implications of this statement in the coming week.
Current reports suggest a new MacBook Air is slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2020. Updated versions of the MacBook Pro and iMac are also reportedly under development. This early November event also represents Apple’s final opportunity to unveil products before the holiday shopping season. Therefore, it’s quite possible we may also see the arrival of other products that have been the subject of speculation, such as the Tile-inspired AirTags tracking device and the over-ear AirPods Studio headphones.
We will continue to provide updates and report on the news as it unfolds.
