iPhone 13: Price, Features & Specs - Apple

The iPhone 13: A Detailed Overview
Recent speculation has proven accurate. Today’s major Apple presentation showcased the newest iPhone model. This latest device arrives less than a year following its predecessor, coinciding with improvements in Apple’s supply chain stability.
Successor to a Popular Model
Last year’s iPhone 12 experienced substantial sales, defying the trend of declining smartphone sales. This success was partly attributable to pent-up demand from a previous delay, but also due to the introduction of 5G connectivity to Apple’s mobile lineup.
Design and Display Enhancements
The iPhone 13, avoiding any superstitious omissions, presents a design that is largely familiar. The front notch has been reduced in size—now 20% smaller than the previous generation—and the rear camera system has undergone a redesign.
Both the iPhone 13 and 13 mini feature a Super Retina XDR display with a brightness of 1200 nits, representing a 28% increase.
The 13 boasts a 6.1-inch screen, while the mini maintains the 5.4-inch size from the prior year. Durability is enhanced by a ceramic shield coating, and the device carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Performance and Processing Power
Powering the phone is Apple’s new A15 Bionic chip, fabricated using a 5nm process. The CPU, a 6-core configuration, is described by the company as “the fastest CPU on any smartphone.”
A new 4-core GPU delivers enhanced graphics capabilities to the handset.
Camera System Innovations
The rear dual-camera system incorporates a 12MP wide-angle camera, capable of capturing 47% more light. The innovative Cinematic Mode introduces rack focus-style video recording, dynamically adjusting focus on subjects with the aid of machine learning.
Users can also manually adjust focus or switch between subjects during recording. All iPhone 13 models support Night Mode and the ProRes codec for professional-grade video capture.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Building upon last year’s introduction of 5G, the company has integrated more sophisticated antennae. A combination of a larger battery and energy-efficient software allows for an additional 2.5 hours of battery life on the iPhone 13 and 1.5 hours on the 13 mini.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 13 mini begins at $699, while the iPhone 13 starts at $799. Available colors include black, gold, silver, and a new, lighter shade of blue. Storage options commence at 128GB.
This update isn’t a radical overhaul; Apple appears to have reserved more substantial changes for the iPhone 13 Pro, which includes a 120Hz display and significant imaging system upgrades.
Pre-orders for the Pro and Pro Max models begin on September 17th, with retail availability starting on September 24th. Both models share the battery enhancements found in the standard iPhone 13.
Accessories
Alongside the new phones, the company is also releasing a range of accessories, including a new MagSafe Wallet that is compatible with the Find My feature.
