apple reportedly planning thinner and lighter macbook air with magsafe charging

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Apple is developing a redesigned MacBook Air. This next-generation model is anticipated to feature a noticeably slimmer and lighter build compared to the current version, which received an update with Apple’s M1 chip in late 2020. Sources indicate a potential release timeframe of late 2021 or 2022.
The forthcoming MacBook Air is expected to incorporate MagSafe charging, a feature also rumored for the upcoming MacBook Pro models in 2021. This will provide a dedicated power delivery and charging solution, alongside two USB 4 ports for data transfer capabilities. While the display will maintain its 13-inch diagonal size, the overall footprint of the device should be reduced through minimized screen borders and other dimensional adjustments.
Over the next two years, Apple intends to transition its complete Mac product line to its proprietary Apple Silicon processors. The initial Apple Silicon Macs, equipped with the M1 chip, were launched late last year and demonstrated significant performance improvements over previous Intel-based models. However, the external designs of these machines remained largely unchanged, leading to anticipation for new case designs that would visually differentiate the latest Macs.
Reports also suggest that Apple is designing new MacBook Pro models with MagSafe charging. These new Pros may also eliminate the TouchBar, a feature that has proven divisive among users, and reintroduce a dedicated SD card slot. These potential changes represent a return to features present in earlier Mac designs, specifically those preceding the 2012 Retina display MacBook Pro, and aim to address feedback from professional and enthusiast users regarding usability.
