iOS 15.0.2 Released: Apple Fixes Actively Exploited Security Bug

Apple Issues Critical Security Updates for iOS 15 and iPadOS 15
Today, Apple has launched the second minor iteration of both iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. This release incorporates a crucial security patch addressing a zero-day vulnerability currently being exploited.
Zero-Day Vulnerability Addressed
The updates, designated iOS 15.0.2 and iPadOS 15.0.2, are now available for download on compatible devices. Apple details that the fix resolves a memory corruption flaw. This vulnerability permitted an application to execute arbitrary code with system-level privileges.
Specifics regarding the nature of the bug are limited. However, Apple cautions that active exploitation is suspected. Therefore, prompt updating of your devices is strongly recommended.
Additional Bug Fixes Included
Beyond the critical security improvement, these updates resolve several other issues present in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.
- An issue preventing the iPhone Leather Wallet with MagSafe from connecting to the Find My network has been corrected.
- A bug that caused AirTags to be invisible within the Find My Items tab is now resolved.
- Problems with CarPlay failing to launch audio applications or disconnecting during audio playback have been addressed.
Furthermore, a glitch causing photos saved from Messages to be deleted upon thread or message removal has been fixed.
iOS 15.1 Currently in Development
Apple is presently beta testing iOS 15.1, the first significant update to iOS 15. This forthcoming release will reinstate the SharePlay functionality within FaceTime.
New features for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max cameras will also be introduced. Support for storing a COVID-19 vaccination card directly in Apple Wallet is planned. Additional bug fixes are also anticipated with this major update.
