Apple Updates iPad Mini: New Design, 5G, and 8.3-inch Display

A Significant Update to the iPad Mini
As anticipated, a substantial number of new hardware products are being showcased at today’s Apple event. The company has already announced an updated iPad, and now a new iteration of the Mini has been revealed. This latest version appears to be the most significant refresh for the small tablet to date.
The new iPad Mini features a redesigned aesthetic, closely mirroring the appearance of the iPad Pro. This transformation centers around an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display, achieved by dramatically reducing the size of the bezels surrounding the screen.
Key Improvements and Features
Beyond the visual enhancements, this refresh offers numerous improvements. These additions substantially enhance the product’s overall functionality.
- 5G Connectivity: Enables faster wireless speeds.
- Apple Pencil Support: Allows for precise input and creative tasks.
- Touch ID Integration: A power button incorporating Touch ID provides secure unlocking.
Internal upgrades are also noteworthy, with Apple stating the new CPU is 40% faster than the previous generation. Furthermore, the GPU delivers an 80% performance increase.
Connectivity and Availability
The Mini is equipped with a USB-C port and features 12-megapixel cameras on both the front and rear. The front-facing camera supports Apple’s Center Stage functionality, which dynamically adjusts the framing during video calls.
The iPad Mini has a starting price of $499 and will be available for purchase starting next week. Pricing will increase with the addition of 5G capabilities.
