iPhone Air: Will Apple Release a Budget iPhone?

iPhone 17 Air: A New Addition to Apple's Lineup
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is planning a significant upgrade to its iPhone series with the introduction of a new model, the iPhone 17 Air.
This expansion of the product range appears logical, considering the positive reception Apple has received for its “Air” branded devices.
The “Air” designation has proven successful with the slimmer designs of MacBooks and iPads. Currently, this report is being composed on a MacBook Air.
Key Features of the iPhone 17 Air
The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to feature Apple’s inaugural internally developed modem.
This new modem is also expected to be implemented in the upcoming iPhone SE, slated for release in the spring.
Furthermore, the device is projected to be Apple’s slimmest smartphone to date, measuring two millimeters thinner than the existing iPhone models.
This reduction in thickness could signify a progression towards the development of foldable iPhone and iPad technologies, which are currently targeted for release in 2026 or beyond.
Other Expected Apple Product Launches in 2025
Gurman’s report also details other Apple products anticipated to be launched in 2025.
- A dedicated smart home hub is among the expected releases.
Notably, a new iteration of Apple’s mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro, is not currently listed as a planned product launch for the coming year.
