Apple Self Service Repair Now Available for iPads - iFixit

Apple Extends Self Service Repair to iPad Lineup
Apple has announced an expansion of its Self Service Repair program to include iPad models, as of Wednesday. This initiative empowers iPad users with the resources necessary to perform repairs on their devices independently.
Repair Resources Available
The program provides access to essential repair documentation, authentic Apple parts, and Apple Diagnostics for troubleshooting. Furthermore, specialized tools and rental toolkits are also made available to facilitate the repair process.
Beginning Thursday, owners of the iPad Air (M2 chip and newer), iPad Pro (M4 chip), iPad mini (A17 Pro chip), and iPad (A16 chip) will be able to procure repair kits and individual components.
Apple's Commitment to Product Longevity
“At Apple, our goal is to create the world’s greatest products that last as long as possible,” stated Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare. “We are pleased to broaden our repair services to a wider customer base, allowing them to prolong the usability of their devices without any compromise to safety, security, or privacy.”
Program History and Current Scope
The Self Service Repair program was initially introduced in 2022. It enables customers to undertake repairs at home, utilizing the same service manuals employed by Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Service Providers.
Currently, the program supports a total of 65 Apple products, including the recently launched iPhone 16e, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio.
Apple also confirmed that Canada is slated to become the 34th country to offer the Self Service Repair program.
Genuine Parts Distributor Program Updates
Additional details were revealed regarding Apple’s Genuine Parts Distributor program. This program allows independent repair technicians to order genuine Apple service parts and components.
These parts are accessible through authorized distributors, such as MobileSentrix in the U.S., and MobileSentrix and Mobileparts.shop in Europe.
The Genuine Parts Distributor program currently offers a wide range of iPhone parts, including displays, batteries, and charging ports. iPad parts will be available through this program starting tomorrow.
