Jeff Williams to Step Down as Apple COO

Apple Announces COO Transition
Jeff Williams, currently the chief operating officer at Apple, will be relinquishing his position later this month, as the company revealed on Tuesday.
The role of COO will be assumed by Sabih Khan, who presently holds the position of senior vice president of operations.
Williams' Retirement Plans
Williams has made the decision to retire, expressing a desire to dedicate more time to personal pursuits.
He specifically mentioned wanting to spend increased time with friends and family, including his growing number of grandchildren – currently five and expanding, according to a company press release.
Leadership Restructuring
Prior to his full retirement later in the year, Williams will maintain his reporting line to CEO Tim Cook.
During this period, he will continue to provide oversight for both the design team and the Apple Watch division.
Upon Williams’ departure, the Apple design team will begin reporting directly to Cook.
A Legacy of Innovation
Throughout his nearly 30 years with Apple, Williams has been instrumental in numerous key initiatives.
These include the introduction of the groundbreaking iPod and iPhone programs.
He also spearheaded the development of the Apple Watch and held a leadership position within the design team, contributing significantly to Apple’s success.
