AMC Private Theater Rentals: Rent a Cinema From $99

Similar to many other areas within the entertainment world, cinemas have experienced significant hardship due to a worldwide health crisis that continues to present challenges. What began as temporary closures extended for several months, compounded by film distributors postponing major releases or opting to release directly to streaming platforms.
Although some cinemas have reopened in certain regions, attracting audiences back to theaters has proven difficult due to ongoing concerns about contracting the highly infectious virus. Innovative solutions, such as temporary outdoor cinemas and popcorn delivery, have emerged as ways for businesses to remain operational during extended periods of closure. Several establishments have also started providing private theater rentals—a temporary solution allowing film enthusiasts to enjoy the cinema experience in a more isolated setting.
According to CNN, the large cinema chain AMC is now providing this rental option on its website, with costs beginning at a relatively affordable $99 (excluding New York, Alaska, and Hawaii). When shared among ten individuals, the cost per person is less than the price of a standard movie ticket.
A screening can accommodate up to twenty guests and features classic films such as “Jurassic Park” alongside seasonally appropriate titles like “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Rental prices increase with more recent releases; for example, “Tenet” and “The New Mutants” can cost as much as $349 for a single showing. The release of “Tenet,” directed by renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan, was anticipated to gauge audience willingness to return to theaters.
Following numerous postponements, Warner Bros. made the unusual decision to release the film in international markets before the United States, as the U.S. continued to grapple with the spread of COVID-19. The continued difficulties in the United States have also recently resulted in China surpassing the country as the world’s leading box office market. During the summer months, AMC indicated it had “substantial doubt” regarding its ability to survive the pandemic.
