Alexa Scene Jumping: Control Prime Video & Fire TV

Alexa+ Gains Scene Navigation for Prime Video
With the launch of the new Alexa+ experience by Amazon on Wednesday, the smart assistant is now equipped to navigate movies on Prime Video autonomously.
This capability is achieved through integrations linking Alexa, Prime Video, and Fire TV. The upgraded assistant, known as Alexa+, can directly “jump to a scene” within a movie, eliminating the need for manual fast-forwarding.
Demonstration and Functionality
The new feature was showcased at a press event held in New York. During the demonstration, Alexa+ successfully identified the movie “A Star Is Born” when asked about a film featuring Bradley Cooper singing.
Following the identification, the user was then able to request Alexa+ to navigate directly to the specific scene where Cooper performs the song.
Scene Identification Methods
Amazon highlights that users can direct Alexa+ to the desired scene by providing details such as the actor’s name, a character’s name, or even a specific quote from the movie.
Multiple cues can be used to pinpoint the correct moment within the film.
Additional Features of Alexa+
Beyond scene navigation, Alexa+ users can now inquire about songs featured during the end credits of television shows.
This functionality extends even to situations where the song title or artist is unknown.
Smart Home Integration and Routines
The new features of Alexa+ complement a range of other enhancements designed to improve integration with consumers’ smart homes.
These include the ability to seamlessly transfer music playback between different rooms.
Alexa+ also provides summaries of smart home events, such as confirmation that the trash has been removed.
Furthermore, the assistant facilitates the creation of voice-activated routines – automated sequences of actions – with greater ease.
