airbuddy’s airpod integration for the mac gets updated with more ios-style features

The AirBuddy application is marking another productive Apple week by commencing pre-orders for version 2.0. The initial release, launched in early 2019, introduced a notification on the Mac whenever AirPods were brought into proximity – establishing straightforward ecosystem connectivity for desktop users prior to Apple’s own implementation.

This forthcoming update, scheduled for release on November 11, provides an even more comprehensive level of integration. A key feature is a streamlined status menu displaying all connected Apple and Beats products. This encompasses the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, as well as other Macs running the newest iteration of the $10 software. Devices are organized according to their existing pairing relationships – for example, AirPods linked to an iPhone will be shown alongside that iPhone within the menu.

The update also provides data on device utilization over the preceding 12 or 24 hours, detailing listening duration, call length, and any discrepancies in battery drain between the two earbuds of an AirPods set. Users will also be able to control the AirPods Pro’s sound modes – normal, active noise cancellation, and transparency – directly from their desktop.

Customers who acquired the original version of the app during the current year will receive the upgrade at no additional cost. Those who made their purchase last year are eligible to upgrade at a 50% discount.
