Siri Corrects Election Day Date Error

As you are likely aware, today is Election Day in the United States. This is widely known, and recent weeks have consistently included reminders to cast your ballot. The date is today, Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
However, it appears Apple’s Siri was initially unaware. Users who wished the smart assistant a “Happy Election Day” earlier today received a response indicating the date was November 8, as reported by Twitter user Lucas Matney.
Apple has now corrected this error. The issue stemmed from Siri prematurely recognizing November 8 as Election Day. That date actually corresponds to the election date in 2022, specifically the midterm elections in the U.S., which are anticipated to be a significant and potentially stressful event. This process, often a source of concern, is the system the ancient Greeks referred to as “democracy.”Siri was not alone in this mistake. An earlier caching problem on Instagram led the platform to inform users that “Tomorrow is Election Day.” This was inaccurate, and attempting to vote tomorrow would likely be unsuccessful. While the outcome of the presidential election may remain uncertain tomorrow, polling places will not be open.
