adobe brings over 20,000 design assets to spark

Adobe is releasing an update today for its Spark social media design platform, introducing more than 20,000 additional design resources. This enhancement, following the September launch of animation capabilities within Spark, includes a minor user interface adjustment to support the new functionality. Essentially, these design assets expand upon the existing features many users already utilize with Spark’s icons.

“Our users, typically small business owners and marketing professionals, aim to produce visually appealing content – and generally lack formal design training,” explained Justin Church, Adobe Spark product manager. “This extensive collection of new design assets will significantly enable them to develop distinctive social media posts and content like Instagram Stories that are more unique and imaginative than before.”

Church pointed out that while many users begin with Spark’s pre-designed templates, a substantial number prefer to build their designs from the ground up. These users will particularly appreciate the ability to readily incorporate elements such as frames, illustrations, and brushes.

Adobe’s internal content design team created some of these assets, while others were sourced from external providers. All assets have been categorized with tags to ensure they are easily searchable within Spark. Currently, search results are not personalized to individual user preferences or existing designs, but the team is investigating the potential of artificial intelligence to refine asset recommendations.

Considering the diverse user base, Adobe initially focused on providing a wide variety of assets and styles. The company intends to continually grow this library, paying close attention to the popularity of different categories, and also plans to introduce new assets coinciding with holidays and other notable occasions.

Update: Following the initial announcement, Adobe provided a revised total for the number of assets. The figure has been updated from over 10,000 to over 20,000, and this article has been adjusted accordingly.
