New Chrome New Tab: Activate the Redesigned Interface

Exploring the New Customizable New-Tab Page in Google Chrome
Have you encountered information regarding the recently revamped – and customizable – new-tab experience within Google Chrome? Now is your opportunity to begin utilizing all the benefits of this redesigned interface with a straightforward adjustment. Please be aware that you must be running the latest Dev Channel version of Chrome (version 3.0.191.3) to enable this feature.
Getting Started with the Dev Channel
To configure your Google Chrome installation to the Dev Channel, refer to our dedicated guide available here. Prior to proceeding, let's briefly examine the previous new-tab interface… while functional, it’s time to explore the possibilities of the new design!
Preparing Chrome for the Updated New-Tab Interface
Initial setup is required to allow Chrome to display the redesigned new-tab interface. First, locate the shortcut(s) used to launch Chrome and right-click on each one.

Selecting "Properties" will open a dedicated window displaying the "Shortcut" tab.

Within the "Target:" address field, you must append the following command to the existing target path. Ensure a single space separates the concluding quotation mark from the command activating the redesigned new-tab interface.

Here’s an illustrative example of how the target path should appear…

Alternatively, consider this example if you have already enabled extensions, user scripts, and the redesigned new-tab interface.

After completing this step, click "Apply", and then "OK".
The Appearance of the Redesigned New-Tab Interface
Upon launching Chrome and opening a new tab, the default layout will be displayed. Should this style not align with your preferences or aesthetic sensibilities, the layout is easily customizable – a significant advantage!

To modify the layout, navigate to the upper right corner of the tab window. There, you will find three buttons. The first controls the display of webpage thumbnails, the second presents webpages as a list, and the third manages the visibility of thumbnails, the webpage list, recent activities, and recommendations.

For a completely uncluttered experience, hide all elements!

Further Thumbnail Customization
As illustrated in the screenshot, webpage thumbnails can now be permanently pinned to the tab page or removed by clicking the "X". Furthermore, thumbnails can be rearranged via drag-and-drop to suit your individual preferences. This feature provides enhanced control over your browsing experience.

Enjoy exploring the redesigned New-Tab Interface!
