2up: Find Your Player 2 This Valentine's Day

Gaming and Connection: Introducing 2up
The connection between gaming and social interaction is often overlooked, yet it’s becoming increasingly significant. Recognizing this, a new venture named 2up is being launched to facilitate connections among gamers, both within virtual worlds and in real life.
The Founders and the App's Purpose
The application was created by siblings Stephanie and Lincoln Smith, individuals with a lifelong passion for gaming.
2up distinguishes itself from conventional dating applications by allowing users to define their desired connection type. Users can seek new friends, teammates, or even romantic partners.
Matching Based on Shared Interests
The platform allows users to specify their preferred gaming consoles and platforms. They can also share their favorite games and indicate whether they favor competitive or casual gameplay. This detailed filtering system aims to connect individuals with aligned interests.
Notably, 2up features a visually appealing design inspired by classic 8-bit graphics.
Revenue Model and Premium Features
The startup intends to generate income through a premium subscription model, similar to other matching services. Subscribers will gain access to unlimited swiping capabilities.
Furthermore, a premium subscription unlocks access to "Charms," which function as a "Super Like" feature, enabling users to highlight their interest in a potential match.
Subscription Costs
Currently, a one-month premium 2up subscription is priced at $19.99. A six-month subscription costs $12.49 monthly, while an annual subscription is available for $8.49 per month (on both iOS and Android).
Quests and Rewards
2up incorporates "quests" to encourage daily app usage and monthly engagement. Completing these quests enters users into raffles for prizes such as gaming headsets, chairs, or even new consoles.
A Unified Gaming Network
“2up is one network that unites gamers,” explains Stephanie Smith. “There are so many different consoles, and there are all these different forums and communities. Our goal was to unify everything and create a single platform. We recognized a need for a more personal experience, and we aim to provide a way for this community to connect both on and off screen.”
The company has been self-funded since its initial development.
