Zenity Secures $5M to Secure Low-Code/No-Code Apps

Securing the Rise of Low-Code/No-Code Applications
With an increasing number of organizations utilizing low-code/no-code tools for developing business applications, a new wave of security services is emerging to address the unique challenges these platforms present.
Zenity Launches with $5 Million in Seed Funding
Zenity, a Tel Aviv-based company, has recently exited stealth mode and secured $5 million in seed funding. This funding round was spearheaded by Vertex Ventures and UpWest, with participation from several angel investors.
Among the investors are prominent figures like Gerhard Eschelbeck, the former CISO of Google, and Tom Fisher, previously the CIO of SuccessFactors.
The Growing Security Concerns
Zenity highlights that the proliferation of employee-built applications and the adoption of technologies like robotic process automation (RPA) are creating new vulnerabilities to potential breaches and ransomware attacks.
“Organizations are rapidly embracing low-code/no-code development, often without fully understanding the inherent risks or their role in the shared responsibility model for security,” explains Ben Kliger, co-founder and CEO of Zenity.
He further states that Zenity empowers CISOs and CIOs to effectively manage their low-code/no-code applications, preventing data leaks, disruptions to operations, compliance issues, and malicious security incidents.
Zenity’s Platform Capabilities
The Zenity platform offers businesses the ability to create a comprehensive inventory of low-code/no-code applications within their organization.
It also facilitates the mitigation of potential risks and the implementation of governance policies that can be automatically enforced.
The company emphasizes that conventional security methodologies are not directly applicable to low-code/no-code applications, yet the demand for a specialized tool like theirs is steadily increasing.
This is particularly true considering that many developers utilizing these platforms lack formal security training or even extensive software development experience.
Founding Team and Expertise
Zenity was established by CEO Ben Kliger and CTO Michael Bargury, both of whom previously held positions on the Azure and cloud security teams at Microsoft.
Industry Validation
Tom Fisher, Zenity advisor and former CIO of Oracle, Qualcomm, and CTO of eBay, notes, “The core challenge lies in mitigating the risks associated with low-code/no-code solutions without hindering business agility.”
He adds that Zenity delivers an ideal combination of governance and security tools, fostering a business-friendly environment that empowers developers to build with greater confidence.
