YouTube TV App Redesign Coming This Summer

YouTube Announces Upcoming TV App Redesign and New Features
This Wednesday, YouTube announced plans to roll out a redesigned application for television platforms this summer. The update will focus on streamlining navigation, enhancing playback functionality, and refining video quality. Improved access to comments, channel information, and subscription options are also included.
Details on the Redesign Remain Limited
Currently, YouTube has not released comprehensive specifics regarding the redesign. A request for access to design previews has been submitted, and this article will be updated should YouTube provide further information.
New Features Across YouTube Apps
Alongside the TV app overhaul, several additional features are being introduced across YouTube’s suite of applications.
Introducing "Ask Music" – AI-Powered Radio
An AI-driven feature, dubbed “Ask Music,” is currently in limited release. This innovative tool allows users to create customized radio stations based on textual descriptions of their desired music.
Availability is presently restricted to YouTube Premium and YouTube Music subscribers who speak English and reside in select countries, accessible through the iOS and Android apps.
Enhanced Multiview for YouTube TV
YouTube TV subscribers now have the ability to personalize their multiview experience. This feature enables simultaneous viewing of up to four live streams.
Initial customization options will include a selection of popular non-sports channels, with broader channel support planned for future updates.
Previously, multiview was primarily focused on sports, with limited non-sports options. Users were restricted to pre-configured multiview layouts chosen by YouTube TV.
Additional Updates for YouTube Premium
YouTube Premium users will soon benefit from support for 4x playback speed. This allows for faster viewing of video content.
Voice Note Replies for Creators
Content creators will see expanded access to a feature enabling them to respond to comments on their videos using voice notes. This provides a more personal and engaging interaction with their audience.
Note: A correction has been made to clarify that the redesign applies to YouTube’s TV application.
