YouTube Updates: Likeness Detection, Dubs, & Creator Tools

YouTube Studio Receives Significant Updates for Creators
On Tuesday, YouTube announced a comprehensive set of new features for YouTube Studio, the platform utilized by over 30 million creators monthly for channel management, analytics tracking, and revenue monitoring. These updates were revealed at the company’s Made on YouTube event.
New Tools and Enhancements
The unveiled tools encompass an AI-powered chatbot for support, an inspiration-focused tab, title A/B testing capabilities, automated dubbing functionalities, likeness detection systems, and several other improvements.
Many of these advancements are expansions of tools previously announced or tested with limited user groups, now being implemented on a wider scale.
Likeness Detection: Protecting Creator Identity
A particularly noteworthy addition is the likeness-detection feature. Initially introduced in 2024 and expanded to select creators like MrBeast, it is now entering an open beta phase.
This technology will be accessible to all members of the YouTube Partner Program – creators meeting specific subscriber and view requirements for monetization. They will gain the ability to identify, manage, and request the removal of videos utilizing their facial likeness without authorization. This safeguards their image, reputation, and prevents audience deception, according to YouTube.
Ask Studio: AI-Powered Support
Ask Studio, a new AI-powered chatbot assistant, is designed to provide guidance and answer creator questions regarding their accounts.
For instance, it can offer insights into a video’s performance or analyze audience feedback on editing techniques. YouTube states this tool aims to deliver actionable intelligence to facilitate channel growth.
It’s important to note this differs from a separate “Ask” AI tool tested with viewers in late 2023, which allowed questions about specific video content.
Inspiration Tab: Enhanced Idea Generation
The Inspiration tab within YouTube Studio, launched publicly last year, assists creators in leveraging AI for video concept development.
Updates include new methods for generating ideas, such as tailored topic suggestions based on each channel and a set of nine responses for every AI prompt. Creators can combine these suggestions or add their own during brainstorming. The feature will also explain the rationale behind its recommendations, based on audience data and behavior.
A/B Testing: Optimizing Titles and Thumbnails
YouTube Studio will introduce the ability to A/B test up to three different video titles and thumbnails. This builds upon the A/B testing feature initially available to select creators in 2023 and subsequently expanded.
Creators have already utilized this testing feature over 15 million times, according to YouTube, although this figure seems relatively modest considering the daily upload volume of 20 million videos.
Collaborative Videos: Expanding Reach
Creators will now be able to collaborate with up to five other creators on a single video, showcasing it to the audiences of all participants.
While intended to boost engagement and broaden reach, revenue generated from these collaborative videos will be attributed to the channel that originally publishes the content, as stated by YouTube.
Auto Dubbing: Improved Realism with Lip-Syncing
YouTube is also initiating testing of lip-syncing technology to enhance the realism of its auto dubbing features. Currently, the platform supports dubbing content into 20 languages.
In the coming months, translated videos will be improved to appear more natural by synchronizing lip movements with the dubbed audio.
YouTube data indicates that viewers spend over 75% of their time watching autodubbed videos compared to the original content, based on a comparison conducted between December 2024 and August 2025.
