YouTube's Free AI Music Tool for Creators - New Feature!

YouTube Introduces AI-Powered Music Generation for Creators
YouTube is implementing a novel functionality that empowers content creators to utilize artificial intelligence to produce bespoke instrumental music for their videos. This update, announced via the Creator Insider channel this week, signifies the initial deployment of an enhancement to the Creator Music marketplace.
Expanding Creator Options
The rollout is occurring in a “gradual” manner, targeting creators already possessing access to Creator Music. Launched in 2023, this platform streamlines the process of discovering music for videos and clarifies associated licensing expenses. The integration of AI music provides an additional, cost-free avenue for creators.
Utilizing the Music Assistant
Creators granted access to this new AI capability will observe a “Music Assistant” tab within Creator Music. A text input field allows for detailed descriptions of desired musical characteristics, encompassing instrumentation, mood, and video context.
To assist users, the platform also provides a selection of suggested prompts to inspire musical creation.
Free and Clear Usage Rights
Once generated, these tracks can be downloaded and incorporated into videos. YouTube emphasizes that the music is provided without licensing fees, eliminating concerns regarding copyright claims.
Availability and Current Access
Currently, Creator Music is accessible to creators within the YouTube Partner Program located in the United States.
Building on Previous AI Experiments
YouTube previously evaluated a related generative AI feature, “Dream Track,” leveraging DeepMind’s Lyria. This allowed users to generate 30-second musical pieces emulating the style of renowned artists.
Integration of Dream Track
The “Dream Track” feature, as outlined in YouTube’s help documentation, initially focused on instrumental compositions. The company confirmed to TechCrunch that it began experimenting with integrating Dream Track into Creator Music last year, extending its availability to both Shorts and YouTube Create.
This represents a continuation of YouTube’s exploration of AI tools designed to enhance the creative process for its users.
