YouTube Shopping Stickers for Shorts: A New Way to Shop

YouTube Enhances Shorts Shopping with New Product Stickers
YouTube announced on Wednesday an update to the Shopping functionality within Shorts. The platform is introducing new Shopping product stickers designed to clearly indicate to viewers which products featured in a Short are available for purchase.
Increased Creator Earning Potential
These new stickers represent a potential revenue stream enhancement for content creators. Testing conducted last month revealed that Shorts utilizing Shopping product stickers experienced over 40% more product clicks compared to those with the standard Shopping button.
Evolution of Shopping Features in Shorts
Previously, products identified within a Short were showcased in a banner located in the bottom-left corner, accompanied by a Shopping button. Selecting this banner would then present viewers with a comprehensive list of products available for browsing and subsequent purchase.
The new system offers greater flexibility. Creators can now tag products directly within their Shorts, automatically generating a sticker based on the initially tagged item.
How the New Stickers Function
Creators retain control over the sticker’s appearance, with the ability to modify both its size and positioning.
If a Short features multiple tagged products, viewers can access a complete list by tapping a downward-facing arrow on the sticker. Selecting a specific product will then redirect the user to the retailer’s website.
Global Rollout and Future Availability
The rollout of Shopping product stickers is commencing over the next week and will be accessible worldwide. An exception exists for South Korea, though YouTube intends to introduce the feature there in the near future.
Shorts Viewership and Upcoming Features
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, speaking at Cannes Lions 2025, disclosed that Shorts are currently averaging over 200 billion daily views. Furthermore, Google’s Veo 3 video generator – capable of producing both video and audio content – is slated for integration into Shorts later this summer.
Veo 3 will provide creators with new tools for content creation.
