Spotify has announced an upgrade to its AI DJ feature for Premium users. This update introduces the capability to submit music requests via text input, expanding beyond voice commands.

Expanded Language Support

The AI DJ now accommodates requests in both English and Spanish. DJ Livi, Spotify’s Spanish-language AI DJ, is now equipped to accept textual music requests.

Previously, the AI DJ was updated to accept voice requests, moving away from solely playing algorithmically selected songs. This voice functionality was initially limited to the English-language version until this recent expansion.

The Rise of Multi-Modal Input

The integration of text-based input mirrors a growing trend in AI interaction. Popular AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini support multiple input methods, including voice, text, and image uploads.

As users become accustomed to switching between these input types, companies like Apple have also adapted their assistants, such as Siri, to accept text-based commands.
