Yahoo Removes DEI Pages - Latest News

Yahoo Removes DEI Content from Corporate Website
Recent reports indicate that tech firm Yahoo has taken down multiple pages and sections from its official corporate website. These removals concern content related to its policies on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Website Changes and Redirections
A dedicated section of Yahoo’s website, formerly focused on DEI initiatives, is now inaccessible. Attempts to reach it result in a redirection to the company’s executive leadership page.
Previous iterations of Yahoo’s leadership page, archived from late 2024, featured language emphasizing diversity and inclusion. However, this wording is no longer present on the current website.
Furthermore, Yahoo’s 2022 diversity report is unavailable, generating a “page not found” error. Despite this, job postings on Yahoo’s career site continue to link to the now-defunct DEI page, which also redirects to the leadership section.
Timeline of Updates
According to records preserved by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, these website alterations occurred between December 2024 and January 2025.
Yahoo's Statement
Brenden Lee, a spokesperson for Yahoo, explained the changes to TechCrunch. He stated that a corporate website overhaul occurred late last year. This was the initial phase of a planned, multi-stage redesign coinciding with CES and the relaunch of Yahoo Ads.
Lee further clarified that this first phase involved reducing the website’s content volume by almost 60 percent. The primary goal was to simplify navigation and highlight advertising and business solutions.
Broader Trend of DEI Rollbacks
Yahoo is not alone in scaling back public commitments to DEI. Several U.S. companies have recently taken similar steps.
This trend coincides with increased scrutiny and efforts by the Trump administration to restrict DEI policies in both the public and private sectors.
Executive Actions and Legal Challenges
Since regaining office, President Trump has issued executive orders designed to pressure private companies into curtailing their DEI programs.
In February, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi directed the Justice Department to “investigate, eliminate, and penalize” DEI initiatives within private sector companies receiving federal funding.
Other Tech Companies Affected
Numerous tech companies, including Google and OpenAI, have already removed DEI references from their websites. Meta eliminated its corporate DEI programs shortly before the recent change in administration, citing a shifting legal environment.
Amazon also deleted DEI-related language from its annual report filed with regulatory bodies.
Previously, TechCrunch reported that U.S. health insurance provider UnitedHealth had also significantly reduced DEI mentions on its website.
Disclosure
It is important to note that Yahoo is the parent company of TechCrunch. Additionally, on March 21st, Regent announced its intention to acquire TechCrunch.
