New Xbox 360 Mobile Apps Released by Microsoft

Following the recent rollout of a new dashboard for the Xbox 360, Microsoft has unveiled a pair of mobile applications designed to enhance interaction with Xbox LIVE and the console itself.

These applications offer varying degrees of functionality. The Xbox Companion, specifically for Windows Phone 7, presents a more comprehensive feature set compared to its iOS equivalent.

Xbox Companion for Windows Phone 7

This app empowers Windows Phone 7 users to locate and stream media files stored directly on their devices to their Xbox 360 consoles.

Furthermore, the Xbox Companion facilitates navigation of the newly designed "Metro" dashboard, mirroring the Windows 8 interface. Users gain streamlined access to friend activity, achievements, and a range of other Xbox LIVE features.

My Xbox LIVE for iOS

The iOS application, while functional, offers a more limited scope of control. iPhone users cannot directly manage their consoles through the app.

Instead, the iOS app focuses on three primary areas: a spotlight section for news and videos, a social hub for avatar customization and friend interaction, and a games section displaying recently played titles.

Users of the iOS app can also modify their avatars, update their profile details, exchange messages, and compare gaming achievements with their friends.
