X Gains Faster Grok Model and 'Grok Button'

xAI Launches Upgraded Grok 2 Chatbot and New Features
Despite ongoing legal challenges with OpenAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm, xAI, continues its product development. A new release occurred late Friday evening.
xAI announced the deployment of an enhanced Grok 2 chatbot model to all users of X, the platform previously known as Twitter. X, also under Musk’s ownership, frequently functions as a testing environment for Grok’s capabilities.
Improved Performance and Capabilities
According to a blog post from xAI, the upgraded Grok demonstrates a threefold increase in speed. Furthermore, it exhibits improvements in areas such as accuracy, adherence to instructions, and support for multiple languages.
Usage of Grok is tiered based on X subscription level. Free users are limited to ten queries every two hours. Those with X Premium and Premium+ subscriptions receive expanded access.
Introducing the “Grok Button”
A new feature, the “Grok button,” has also been integrated into X. This tool is intended to assist users in uncovering pertinent information.
The Grok button aims to provide context for real-time events and facilitate deeper engagement with trending topics.
Updates to the Enterprise API
xAI is also implementing several modifications to its enterprise Application Programming Interface (API).
The API now includes a pair of new Grok models designed for greater efficiency and enhanced multilingual support. These improvements have resulted in reduced pricing.
Previously priced at $5 per million input tokens (approximately 750,000 words) and $15 per million output tokens, the cost has been lowered to $2 and $10 respectively.
Aurora Image Generation Coming to the API
In the near future, xAI’s image generation model, Aurora, will be made available through the API. Aurora, an AI capable of generating largely uncensored images, was initially released within the Grok chatbot experience on X earlier this month.
