Whoop Launches Blood Testing: 350,000 on Waitlist

Whoop Launches Advanced Health Screening Service
Whoop, the renowned fitness band manufacturer, officially launched Whoop Advanced Labs on Tuesday. The company reported to TechCrunch that a substantial waitlist of approximately 350,000 individuals had accumulated following a preview of the service in May.
Comprehensive Health Analysis
Whoop Advanced Labs provides comprehensive health-screening blood tests, sourced through Quest Diagnostics. These tests analyze a wide spectrum of biomarkers, encompassing everything from calcium levels to white blood cell counts.
The platform uniquely combines these blood test results with continuous data collected by the Whoop band. This data includes activity levels, sleep patterns, respiratory rate, and blood pressure measurements.
This integration facilitates the delivery of highly personalized wellness recommendations tailored to each user’s specific physiological profile.
Subscription Options and Costs
Whoop Advanced Labs offers tiered subscription plans. A single annual test is priced at $199, while two tests per year cost $349. For those seeking more frequent monitoring, four annual tests are available for $599.
It’s important to note that the Whoop device itself requires a separate membership. This membership ranges in price from $200 to $350 annually, depending on the features included with the wearable strap.
Expanding Market for Accessible Wellness
Whoop is now part of a rapidly expanding market of startups focused on providing wellness solutions through affordable, subscription-based blood screenings.
Competitors in this space include Dr. Mark Hyman’s Function Health, which offers testing at three-month intervals for an annual fee of $500, alongside optional body imaging services.
Another player is Fountain Life, a longevity-focused startup founded by Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis, with a significantly higher annual cost exceeding $20,000.
