WhatsApp Enhances User Engagement with New Features

WhatsApp is implementing several updates designed to boost user interaction. These include the ability to generate stickers from selfies, facilitate the sharing of sticker collections, and introduce a range of new camera effects.

Selfie-to-Sticker Functionality

The platform previously enabled users to design custom stickers from existing photographs. Now, a new feature allows for the direct conversion of selfies into stickers. Accessing the “Create stickers” option within the stickers menu will reveal a camera function.

Users can then capture a selfie, which the application will automatically transform into a sticker and store within their sticker collection.

AI Sticker Creation and Sticker Pack Sharing

It is worth noting that Meta, the parent company, introduced AI-powered sticker generation via Meta AI in the United States last year.

Furthermore, WhatsApp is streamlining the sharing of sticker packs. Users will now be able to share direct links to their preferred sticker collections with contacts.

Expanded Camera Effects

The Meta-owned messaging application is also expanding its camera capabilities. A total of 30 new backgrounds, filters, and effects are being added for both photos and videos.

Video call filters were initially launched last year. Now, these enhancements are being integrated directly into the WhatsApp camera interface.

Many of these new effects bear a resemblance to those found on platforms like Snapchat and Instagram.

Streamlined Message Reactions

A new method for reacting to messages is also being introduced. Double-tapping a message will now bring up a selection of the user’s most frequently used reactions, offering a quicker response option.
