Voyager Space Holdings to Acquire Majority Stake in Space Micro

Voyager Space Holdings Expands Portfolio with Space Micro Acquisition
Voyager Space Holdings is actively growing its presence in the space industry through strategic acquisitions. The company is set to obtain a majority ownership position in Space Micro, a developer specializing in orbital communications and digital subsystems designed for satellites.
This represents Voyager’s sixth acquisition since its establishment in October 2019. The firm aims to establish itself as a comprehensive space solutions provider, encompassing areas like robotics, launch assistance, and communications technologies.
Previous Acquisitions by Voyager Space Holdings
- X.O. Markets, the parent company of Nanoracks, a commercial space service provider.
- Pioneer Astronautics, focused on research concerning life support systems for space exploration.
- Altius Space Machines, a robotics development startup.
- The Launch Company, a provider of launch support services.
Voyager Space’s acquisition strategy has rapidly positioned it as a significant player in the space sector. Despite being founded less than two years ago, the company is already planning the deployment of a commercial space station by 2027.
This ambitious project, a collaborative effort with Nanoracks and Lockheed Martin, will see Voyager responsible for the financial oversight and capital distribution for the station’s development.
It remains uncertain whether Space Micro’s technologies will be integrated into this planned space station. However, this investment will undoubtedly facilitate the expansion of Space Micro’s operations and increase its production capacity.
“This acquisition signifies a substantial advancement in our growth,” stated David Strobel, co-founder and chair of Space Micro. “The market for satellite constellations is poised for significant growth, and with Voyager’s support, we are well-prepared to scale our technologies to meet these evolving demands.”
Space Micro’s Extensive Experience
Since its founding in 2002, Space Micro has cultivated a diverse clientele, including prominent organizations such as NASA, the U.S. Space Force, the U.S. Air Force, and the German Space Agency.
Currently, the company boasts over 100 subsystems operating in orbit, accumulating a total of 2.7 million hours of in-space operational experience.
Space Micro has contributed critical technology to NASA missions like the Lunar Atmosphere Dust and Environment Explorer and the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite. Furthermore, the company collaborates with commercial entities, having been chosen by Masten Space Systems earlier this year to supply transponders for their XL-1 lunar lander.
