Access Hotmail in Microsoft Outlook - Microsoft Support

Accessing Hotmail Through Outlook
For users who prefer a desktop email client over webmail, yet still utilize a Hotmail account, Microsoft provides a solution. A connector has been released enabling the sending and receiving of Hotmail or Office Live Mail directly within Outlook 2003 or 2007.
This functionality is particularly beneficial for individuals who maintain a Hotmail account but infrequently check it due to a preference for other email platforms.
Installation Process
Prior to beginning, ensure Outlook is completely closed. Then, download and install the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector. Upon reopening Outlook, a settings dialog will appear automatically.
Input your account credentials into the provided fields within the dialog, and subsequently close it. A prompt requesting a restart of Outlook will then be displayed.
Following the restart, your Hotmail account will be visible within the list of configured mail accounts. You can then proceed to send and receive messages, effectively downloading your email.
When composing new emails, a new "Account" drop-down menu will become available. This allows you to select the Hotmail account as the sending identity.
This integration aims to alleviate the frustrations associated with the potentially slow-loading Hotmail web interface.
The Microsoft Office Outlook Connector can be downloaded directly from Microsoft.com. Download it today to streamline your email experience.
