Ultrahuman Launches Luxury Smart Ring Collection
At CES 2025, Ultrahuman, a prominent smart ring manufacturer, unveiled three new, exceptionally crafted wearable devices. This expansion introduces a premium jewelry line to the company’s existing range of wellness-focused wearables.
The new line has been branded “Rare,” a deliberate echo of the company’s popular Ring Air. This naming strategy highlights the elevated nature of these new offerings.
Premium Materials and Craftsmanship
The Indian-based startup is positioning these new “luxury” smart rings as a pioneering achievement. While smart rings inherently blend technology with jewelry, the materials used in the Rare Rings represent a significant upgrade.
Two of the models feature a coating of 18K gold. This gold is sourced from refineries approved by the London Bullion Market Association and is officially hallmarked by the Bureau of Indian Standards, ensuring quality and authenticity.
A third band is constructed from pt950, which signifies 95% platinum, offering a sophisticated silver aesthetic.
A New Category for Ultrahuman
According to Founder and CEO Mohit Kumar, this luxury line signifies “a whole new category” for Ultrahuman. This isn’t a one-time collaboration or limited edition release.
Instead, it represents a determined effort to elevate smart rings to a higher level of aspiration, accompanied by a corresponding price point. Rare Rings will be available for purchase between £1,500 and £1,800, excluding any applicable local taxes.
This translates to approximately $1,900 to $2,250, based on current exchange rates. This price is substantially higher than the starting price of $349 for Ultrahuman’s Ring Air, justifying the “luxury” designation.
Market Potential and Competitive Landscape
The question remains whether consumers will be willing to invest such a significant amount in a compact wearable device. However, the success of the Apple Watch demonstrates a market for premium wearables.
A key differentiator for Ultrahuman’s smart rings is the absence of a subscription requirement to access core tracking features, unlike Oura’s rings. This means a single purchase grants access to the primary functionalities.

Sand and Silicon: Ultrahuman's Luxury Ring Collection
Ultrahuman is introducing its first collection of Rare rings, dubbed the “Desert Collection.” Each ring’s design draws inspiration from elements found in nature, reflected in their respective names.
The collection features three distinct bands: “Dune,” crafted in a gold tone; “Desert Rose,” presented in rose gold; and “Desert Snow,” a platinum ring with a silver hue.
Design and Aesthetics
Beyond the utilization of high-end metals, a key design feature is the brushed finish applied to each band. These bands are characterized by “finely crafted grooves.”
Ultrahuman’s marketing materials describe this finish as simultaneously smooth and textured to the touch. It also highlights the light-reflecting, “crystalline” qualities that emerge with the wearer’s movement.
Currently, the rings do not incorporate any gemstones, though this could be a consideration for future collections.
Underlying TechnologyBeneath the luxurious exterior, the Rare rings incorporate the same tracking technology found in Ultrahuman’s Ring Air. This includes photoplethysmography and six-axis motion sensors.
These sensors enable comprehensive tracking of various health metrics. Wearers can monitor their sleep patterns, activity levels, heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), stress levels, and skin temperature.

Exclusive Benefits for Rare Users
Owners of the Ring Rare will receive an “exclusive suite of benefits.” This includes lifetime access to UltrahumanX, the company’s comprehensive coverage and benefits program.
Furthermore, Rare owners are granted complimentary access to all PowerPlugs. These are software add-ons designed to enhance customization.
This access extends to currently paid PowerPlugs, such as AFib detection, as well as any future software releases.
Launch Timeline
The Ring Rare is scheduled for release in Europe during the first quarter of 2025, beginning with the United Kingdom and France. Distribution will be limited to a curated selection of high-end retail establishments. Initially, the collection will be available at Selfridges London, which currently carries the Ring Air, and Printemps Paris, both renowned luxury department stores.
Further expansion plans were outlined by Kumar, who indicated that additional markets will be included after the initial launch. He stated that locations such as New York, Milan, and India are also being considered for future availability.
