Ultrahuman Expands Women’s Health Capabilities Through Acquisition

Ultrahuman, a company specializing in smart ring technology, has announced the acquisition of viO HealthTech, a firm focused on women’s health. This strategic move will facilitate the launch of enhanced cycle and ovulation tracking features.

Introducing “Cycle and Ovulation Pro”

Following the acquisition, Ultrahuman is introducing a new feature for the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, named “Cycle and Ovulation Pro.” This plug-in is designed to provide users with precise cycle tracking capabilities.

It will also offer support for fertility planning, including ovulation confirmation, and the ability to identify patterns such as early or delayed ovulation.

Leveraging Proven Technology

Cycle and Ovulation Pro utilizes a temperature-sensing algorithm initially developed for viO’s OvuSense fertility monitors. This technology represents over 15 years of research and development.

The algorithm has been refined using a comprehensive dataset comprising more than 260,000 cycles, gathered through the use of medical-grade sensors, as highlighted by Ultrahuman.

Personalized Insights Through Wearable Technology

By integrating this technology with the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, cycle tracking is now possible via finger-worn sensors.

This approach allows for personalized insights that evolve over time, leading to a more nuanced understanding of individual cycles.

Addressing the Limitations of Existing Platforms

Ultrahuman acknowledges that many existing menstrual tracking platforms are geared towards individuals with regular 28-day cycles. However, a significant portion of the population experiences cycle variations.

The acquisition of viO is specifically intended to cater to those with conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, thyroid disorders, or those who do not experience regular bleeding, ensuring a more accurate and supportive experience.

Continued Availability of Existing Features

The current free Cycle & Ovulation PowerPlug, which provides basic tracking tools and calendar-based predictions, will continue to be offered to users.
