GoStudent Raises €13.3M Series A - Left Lane & DN Capital

GoStudent, an e-learning company headquartered in Vienna, has bolstered its Series A funding round, increasing it to €13.3 million with an additional €5 million investment this week. This latest funding was led by Left Lane Capital and DN Capital, bringing the company’s total raised capital to €16 million.
GoStudent’s platform facilitates connections between students and educators globally, providing both one-on-one and small-group tutoring opportunities. The company provides students of all ages with tutoring subscriptions spanning six, twelve, and twenty-four months. It also equips both students and teachers with dedicated software, streamlining the learning process by eliminating administrative burdens and allowing full concentration on instruction and study. An AI-powered matching system pairs students with suitable tutors, and a secure environment enables students to collaborate and ask questions.
The company reports significant expansion since early summer, extending its services from the DACH region to several other European countries, including France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Spain, with further European expansion planned. While experiencing growth before the COVID-19 pandemic, GoStudent now facilitates over 100,000 tutoring sessions monthly, supported by a network of more than 2,000 active tutors.
Felix Ohswald, CEO and co-founder of GoStudent, stated: “The recent situation has highlighted to parents throughout Europe the benefits of online tutoring and its capacity to deliver accessible, high-quality education. Our platform removes geographical limitations, enabling students of all backgrounds and ages to connect with exceptional tutors through our virtual learning environment.”
Vinny Pujji, a partner at Left Lane Capital, commented: “GoStudent delivers a high-value, affordable solution that is introducing many students to online education for the first time. The company is well-positioned to lead the growth of the European edtech sector, which has historically been fragmented and largely reliant on in-person services.”
Nenad Marovac, managing partner and CEO at DN Capital, added: “GoStudent is rapidly expanding its presence across Europe while consistently prioritizing excellent learning results.”
Within Europe, GoStudent’s competitors include independent tutors offering services through online marketplaces such as Superprof and MyTutor, as well as established institutions like Acadomia (France), Schülerhilfe (Germany), and Titanium Tutors (U.K.).
However, its online model generally allows for more affordable access compared to traditional institutions, as it avoids the costs associated with physical locations. Furthermore, it provides access to a wider pool of educators, extending beyond those geographically close to students.
Ohswald explained to TechCrunch: “Existing competitors often lack consistent quality control and sustained support. We are committed to supporting our students throughout their academic journey and retaining our teachers long-term. Our platform maximizes the potential of educators and fosters lasting relationships.”
