Enable DreamScene on Vista Home Premium - Part 2

Enabling DreamScene on Windows Vista Home Premium
This guide details the process of installing DreamScene on Windows Vista Home Premium. DreamScene allows for the use of video files as your desktop background, moving beyond static images.
While a standard feature of Vista Ultimate, it’s possible to enable this functionality on Home Premium through the application of a patch. IMPORTANT: Ensure that Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is installed prior to proceeding with the installation.
Downloading the Patch
The necessary patch file, weighing approximately 20 MB, is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista. It can be obtained from the WinMatrix Forum.
Simply navigate to the forum and download the WinRAR archive containing the patch files.
Installation Procedure
The installation process is straightforward. Begin by extracting the contents of the downloaded WinRAR archive.
After extraction, locate and execute the 'Install.bat' file within the extracted folder.
A Command Prompt window will appear, presenting a series of prompts. Respond to these prompts as directed to continue the installation.
Finalizing the Setup
Upon completion of the installation, a system restart is required.
The default location for DreamScene video files is C:\Windows\Web\Windows DreamScene. A sample video is included with the patch.
Additional DreamScene videos can be found and downloaded from various online sources, such as dreamscenevideo.net.
Activating DreamScene
To activate DreamScene as your desktop background, right-click on an empty area of your desktop and select 'Properties'.
Navigate to the 'Desktop Background' tab and, from the dropdown menu, choose 'Windows DreamScene Content'.
Finally, double-click the desired DreamScene video file to begin playback as your desktop background.
The installation of the patch and the acquisition of video files represent the core steps involved.
A demonstration of DreamScene in action, including the performance with running applications, is available for viewing.
