Trump Announces Truth Social: A New Social Media Platform

Donald Trump Announces New Social Media Platform: TRUTH Social
Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, revealed on Wednesday his plans to introduce a new social media platform named TRUTH Social. This announcement was made via a press release issued by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG).
Launch Timeline and Initial Access
A beta version of Trump’s new social network is scheduled for release in November. Initially, access will be restricted to invited users only. A nationwide launch is anticipated during the first three months of 2022, according to the official statement.
Background and Motivation
The development of this rival social media platform stems from Trump’s removal from several established platforms. Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, among other major social media companies, banned or suspended Trump earlier this year. This action was taken due to violations of their respective policies following the events of January 6th at the Capitol.
Trump expressed his intent to challenge the dominance of existing social media giants. He stated, “I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.”
Company Mission and Objectives
According to Trump, the company’s core mission is to establish “a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the Big Tech companies.” This highlights a clear intention to offer an alternative perspective within the social media landscape.
Launch Strategy and Corporate Structure
The TRUTH Social application will be launched through a newly formed entity. This entity is the result of a merger between Trump Media and Technology Group and Digital World Acquisition Corp, which is publicly listed on the Nasdaq exchange.
Regarding Marketing Materials
It has been noted that marketing materials for the TRUTH Social iOS app contained a screenshot displaying posts from various publications, including The New York Times, Variety, Fox News, and TechCrunch. However, a headline appearing next to the TechCrunch logo had not been published by this site, and TechCrunch does not currently maintain an account on TRUTH Social.
