Trump Claims Microsoft in TikTok Acquisition Talks

Potential Acquisition of TikTok's U.S. Operations
According to reports from Bloomberg, former President Donald Trump has indicated that Microsoft is currently engaged in discussions regarding the potential acquisition of TikTok’s operations within the United States.
While details remain limited, Trump conveyed that significant interest exists in TikTok and anticipates numerous companies will submit bids for the platform.
Previous Acquisition Attempts
Both Microsoft and Oracle were previously considered as potential buyers of the ByteDance-owned application in 2020. This occurred when Trump initially exerted pressure on the social media network to divest its Chinese ownership to avoid a potential prohibition.
A previous executive order signed by Trump extended the deadline for a potential TikTok ban by 75 days. He also directed the Department of Justice to refrain from enforcing any penalties associated with the ban.
Current Status and Other Bidders
Despite being reinstated online, TikTok remains unavailable for download through major app stores.
Notably, Perplexity AI has formally presented a proposal to merge with TikTok. Furthermore, billionaire Frank McCourt has submitted a formal offer to purchase the social network.
Previously, Trump expressed openness to the possibility of Tesla CEO Elon Musk or Oracle chairman Larry Ellison acquiring TikTok.
The situation remains fluid, with multiple parties expressing interest in securing TikTok’s U.S. assets.
