A potential delay in the U.S. ban on TikTok is anticipated due to the deadline coinciding with the MLK Day holiday weekend. Reports from Bloomberg indicate that the incoming administration under President-elect Donald Trump is planning to explore options for extending the current timeframe.

Current Administration's Stance

Officials within the Biden administration are viewing the TikTok issue as belonging to the purview of the incoming Trump administration. Consequently, there are no plans for intervention before the ban's scheduled date of January 19th.

Bloomberg was informed by a source that TikTok users should not anticipate an immediate shutdown of the social media platform this Sunday.

Trump Administration's Plans

Michael Waltz, designated as Trump’s incoming national security adviser, communicated to Fox News’ Fox and Friends that the new administration will implement strategies to prevent TikTok from becoming inaccessible.

The Washington Post has also reported that President Trump is contemplating the issuance of an executive order upon assuming office. This order would aim to secure additional time for negotiations regarding a potential sale or the identification of an alternative resolution.

Shift in Trump's Position

Although President Trump initially spearheaded efforts to ban the application during his first term, his stance evolved throughout the recent election campaign. He publicly pledged to preserve the app should he be re-elected.

Furthermore, President Trump has already formally requested the Supreme Court, which is currently reviewing the legality of the ban, to temporarily suspend the law’s enforcement.
