Trump Ends Twitter Ban Legal Battle - Latest News

Lawsuit Against X (Formerly Twitter) by Donald Trump Reaches Potential Conclusion
The legal action initiated by President Donald Trump against the company previously operating as Twitter seems to be nearing its end.
The lawsuit was filed following the platform’s decision to ban Trump after the events of January 6, 2021, when the U.S. Capitol building was breached by his followers. Although the initial suit was dismissed by a federal judge in 2022, appeals were continued by the former president’s legal team.
Shift in Ownership and Account Reinstatement
Shortly after the judge’s decision, Elon Musk, who has since become a prominent supporter of Trump, completed the acquisition of Twitter, which was subsequently rebranded as X. As a result, Trump’s account was reinstated on the platform.
Furthermore, Facebook and other social media networks also lifted their bans on Trump. However, he primarily utilizes Truth Social, a platform owned by Trump Media & Technology Group, for his social media communications.
Case Dismissal Request
According to a recent court document, all involved parties have jointly requested the court to dismiss the case. The filing provides no specifics regarding the terms of the agreement reached between Trump and X.
It was noted that each side will be responsible for covering their own legal expenses.
Similar Settlement with Meta
In January, Meta reached a settlement agreement, paying $25 million to resolve a comparable lawsuit concerning Trump’s removal from Instagram and Facebook.
This settlement highlights a trend of resolving disputes related to platform bans and reinstatements.
