Initial Impressions of Cerulean Studios Trillian Astra (Alpha)
Alpha testing of Cerulean Studios’ Trillian Astra, the latest iteration of the Trillian instant messaging client, has commenced. This article provides a preliminary overview of the application’s appearance and functionality as it undergoes development. It’s important to note that this version is still under active Alpha testing.
Installation Process
The application installation is a relatively simple procedure. The following screenshots illustrate the sequential steps involved.
The installation of Trillian Astra has been successfully completed.
First Launch and Login
This is the initial screen presented upon launching Trillian Astra.
User credentials – username and password – are required to gain access.
Following a successful login with an Astra account, the default user interface is displayed.
Customization Options
The application’s appearance and various features can be modified through the “View” tab located at the top of the window.

Familiarity and New Features
Users acquainted with previous Trillian versions will recognize that account settings and preferences remain largely consistent with the 3.1.6.0 release. The most noticeable change observed thus far is the enhanced visual design of the user interface.
New functionalities include plugins supporting MySpace, Rendezvous, Google Talk, AOL, ICQ, and IRC. Furthermore, options for both video and voice conferencing have been integrated. Further updates, including more screenshots and coverage of advanced features, will be provided in the near future.
