TikTok CEO Responds to Trump Following Supreme Court Ruling

Shou Zi Chew, the Chief Executive Officer of TikTok, has addressed statements made by Donald Trump concerning the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to potentially ban the application within the United States.

Through a video shared on the TikTok platform itself, Chew expressed gratitude, stating, “Speaking for the entire TikTok team and our user base nationwide, we extend our thanks to President Trump for his dedication to collaborating with us on a resolution that will preserve TikTok’s accessibility in the United States.”

TikTok's Strategy and Trump's Involvement

TikTok is seemingly positioning itself to benefit from support offered by Trump in order to uphold the platform’s legal standing in the U.S.

Trump is actively seeking to be recognized as the protector of TikTok, having announced on his Truth Social account that discussions are underway with China’s President Xi Jinping regarding potential avenues to preserve the platform.

Chew further elaborated, “We are thankful for the backing of a president who genuinely comprehends our platform, having personally utilized TikTok to share his views and engage with a global audience, amassing over 60 billion views of his content.”

He assured users, “Be confident that we will exert every effort to guarantee the continued success of our platform… Further updates will be provided.”

Supreme Court Decision and Future Uncertainty

The Supreme Court’s ruling earlier on Friday allowed the TikTok ban to proceed.

Currently, it remains unclear whether TikTok will proactively disable the app for U.S. users this Sunday, or if it will await the outcome of potential negotiations between the Trump administration and China.
